[Baby Well Care] 2 Week Check-up

Today we took Zoë in for her 2 week check-up!  I can't believe that she's already 2 weeks old!  Where does the time go??  It was good to hear that she has gained her original weight back and more.  I never mentioned this before but when we were discharged from the hospital Zoë had lost 9% of her birth weight!  When we returned the following day for the Newborn Club she had lost more weight!  She went from 7lbs 8oz (birth weight) to 6lbs 10oz.  At this time the nurses were really concerned that she had lost too much weight!  They suggested that I nurse her every 2 hours hoping my milk will come in sooner and so that she eats to gain weight!  Before leaving the newborn club the nurse scheduled an appointment for us to come back to have her weighed again!

We returned on Sunday, May 1st to Kaiser Vallejo!  They Dr. weighed her and she had gained 4oz so that put her at 6lbs 14oz!  The Dr. was really happy with her weight gain and so were we!  Phew!!  Since we were already there they tested her once again for jaundice just to make sure she didn't have it!  We received a phone call later and was informed that she was in the clear!  That was great news to hear as well!

Anyway...back to her 2 week check-up!  No shots needed since she got them when she was born so that was great!  I hate taking the babies for their shots!  Her Dr. said that she was perfect and that she's doing really well!  She had gained about 1 1/2lbs from her last appointment and grew 2 1/4" from birth!  We were happy to hear that she's very healthy!
