Since I failed my 1-hour glucose test, I was called to come back for the 3-hour glucose test. I was told to fast the night before and that it was recommended that I have a late snack between 10pm-12am. So I ate a half peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread with a glass of low-fat milk.
The next morning I needed to be at the lab by 8am. I checked in and was told to go in and start the process. First they drew my blood then was presented this:
A 100gm glucose solution. It was lemon-lime flavored so it tasted like at very syrup-ie, non-carbonated, super sweet Sprite. It actually wasn't too bad. I had 5 minutes to finish my drink while the phlebotomist sat there and made sure I drank every last drop. She then told me that I was not able to eat or drink anything and that I could not leave the waiting room. Then I needed to come back in one hour from the time I finished the drink for the following 3 hours.
Good thing I brought something to keep me occupied! It was going to be a long day. I decided to finally start reading my SIL's book!
An hour passed and I walked right into the lab for my second blood drawing...Another hour passed and I walked in for my third blood drawing...Another hour passed and it was time for my last blood drawing. Thank goodness! I get my results within 24 hours. I'm anxious and nervous to find out what they are!
