[Pregnancy] Prenatal Sciatic Nerve Pain....huh???

I have to say that this pregnancy has definitely been a lot different from my first!  Well, they say...different baby, different pregnancy!  Today was the first time that I experienced prenatal sciatic nerve pain and it hurts like H**L!  I did not have to go through this with Davin and can't believe that I'm actually going through it right now!

I did a little research on what causes it and found that prenatal sciatic nerve pain is caused by pressure on the nerve from the expanding uterus, and sometimes from the position of the baby.  It's also caused by sitting for long periods of time and I do sit at a desk all day so I'm sure that doesn't help.  Anyway, I did a little research on treatment techniques and trust me, I will be trying every single one of them!

1.  Sleeping with a body pillow
2.  Yoga
3.  Massage

I will be sleeping with a body pillow tonight and I have scheduled an appointment for a 1 hour prenatal massage this Saturday and am looking forward to it!  I'll let you know if and how things improve (well...I'm hoping they improve soon)!

  1. I had really bad sciatic pain with Cody. massage definitely helps and sleeping position plays a big role. Hope you find relief!!!

The other thing that helped me and relieved pressure was sitting on an exercise ball. I sat on it while watching TV and even at my desk. That relieved a lot of pressure and pain.

  2. Thanks for the tips! I slept with a pillow in between my legs and that totally helped! The pain went away within 2 days!

I also had a massage this morning and it was really nice! I'll try the exercise ball if it acts up again! Thanks again!
